Licensing & Continuing Education Resources

LICENSE RENEWALS & CE HOURS

It is your responsibility to maintain your active license, association and MLS status, and to pay your dues. You must know your license expiration date, license renewal requirements, and keep your license active.

Check with your state’s Dept. of Licensing / Real Estate Commission to see how many Continuing Education (CE) hours you need and when your license expires. Some states require fingerprints and background checks periodically, for example, Washington requires this every 6 years, Utah requires fingerprints for every renewal.

We at Kelly Right Real Estate cannot assist you with looking up how many hours you have or need to do, the status of your license renewal or fingerprints, and we cannot renew the license for you. You must contact your state for this.

Click the Links below:

You must know when your license expires and be proactive at renewing your license.

It is your responsibility to find out from the state if you need fingerprints, background check, how to renew your license, what their fees are, how to sign up for CE classes, report CE hours, how to log into your state account and etc.

Continuing Education Programs

We have a few CE program options below that offer discounts to Kelly Right agents. You are not required to use these CE vendors if you prefer to use a different company.

Each state’s continuing education requirements are different.  Visit the NAR link below for state references, or scroll down the page for each state’s renewal information and requirements.

How to find out if a course counts for CE credit:

Use the Education Lookup to search for certified courses, or contact the Commission for assistance. Some Professional Designation courses are also accepted for CE credit. These classes are listed as “certified” in the IREC database.

    Find a scheduled CE course:

Visit the Education Lookup and select “Find a Class” – then enter search criteria and “Search”. Click on individual courses to find more information about the course provider, cost, location, etc.

Using non-Idaho CE for Idaho license renewal:

IREC accepts many (but not all) courses taken in other jurisdictions, and some courses offered for other professions. Submit a Licensee Request for CE Credit Form (REE-153) located on the Forms page of the website at least 60 days prior to your Idaho license renewal date. Courses must fit within Rule 402 and must relate to real estate brokerage practice. Online courses must be ARELLO certified.

Applying for an Idaho license if licensed in another state:

Idaho has no reciprocal or other license agreements with any jurisdiction. However, Idaho waives the national portion of the licensing exam, pre-license education, and broker experience requirements (if applicable) if you are licensed on active status in another state.

You may obtain the same type of license in Idaho (salesperson or broker) as you hold in your primary state of licensure, unless your primary state is a “single licensure” state (everyone holds a broker license). If you are licensed in a “single licensure” state, you must hold a Principal or Designated Broker license to qualify for an Idaho broker license. See instructions here.

    MARKETING & ADVERTISING COMPLIANCE FAQ’S:

    REQUIRED TEXAS DISCLOSURES:

    What is the IABS?

Texas law requires all brokers and sales agents to provide written notice regarding information about brokerage services at the first substantive communication with prospective buyers, tenants, sellers, and landlords concerning specific real property.  The Information About Brokerage Services form (or the IABS) is the required method to provide that information to those parties.

Posting and delivery are BOTH required

It is important to remember that the IABS must both be delivered at the first substantive communication, and the completed IABS must be posted on the homepage of the license holders’  business website. A business website is a website controlled by the license holder, accessible to the public, and that contains information about a license holder’s real estate brokerage services.

Posting  the IABS:  Make sure to comply by following these simple rules.

    • All fields in the IABS must be correctly filled out.

    • Post a link to the IABS form labeled “Texas Real Estate Commission Information About Brokerage Service,”  in at least 10 point font or ”TREC Consumer Protection Notice” in at least 12 point font on the homepage of the business’ website, in a readily noticeable place.

    • On social media, TREC added flexibility for posting a link to the IABS. Just make sure a link to the homepage of  the business’ website with the completed IABS is linked in the social media profiles .

Delivery of the IABS:   What are some acceptable ways to deliver the IABS? :

    1. Via email
    • In the body of an email.  The link to the IABS must be above the email signature block and specifically reference the IABS form.
    • As an attachment to an email. The body of the email must specifically reference the IABS in the body of the email.
    1. Physically
    • Give the completed IABS form directly to  a client at the first substantive conversation.
    • First class mail or overnight common carrier delivery service.

What is the Consumer Protection Notice?

The Consumer Protection Notice provides information about filing a complaint with TREC, and information regarding the two TREC recovery funds.  This notice must be displayed in a readily noticeable location in each place of business the broker maintains and must be posted on your business website homepage in a readily noticeable place.  The link on the website must either state ”Texas Real Estate Commission Consumer Protection Notice,” in at least 10 point font or ”TREC Consumer Protection Notice,” in at least 12 point font.

    Still, have more questions?

Review or Frequently Asked Questions on the TREC website.  Search by “IABS” or “Information About Brokerage Services”.
